It was the 12th January when the idea of running Tor Relays as a Community was born. It was not an ordinary day. It was the day where the Chaos Computer Club Lëtzbuerg (The Luxembourg chapter of the famous CCC - and our mother organization) organized the first Crypto Party in Luxembourg. There we met Moritz from Zwiebelfreunde e.V. better known as torservers.net He was the pushing factor for the foundation of Frënn vun der Ënn and we want to thank him for his actions and support. From there on we learned a lot of things. How to correctly contact Providers, how to handle abuse, how to run fast Exit Nodes and last but not least how to educate citizens about Tor.
At first we had nothing but a website and barely enough money to run a exit node and now we run multiple unmetered gigabit exit nodes and bridge nodes. This wouldn’t be possible without the help of your generous donations. Be it financial or by your kind and motivating words. Of course ups and downs like every NGO. We nearly faced legal repercussions because of our idealism/ethics and guess what? We are still here protecting your digital rights and we have no intend of stopping. We are now better connected to the community than ever and had the pleasure to meet a lot of cool individuals and organizations.
So what’s next you may ask? Keep on fighting of course!
There is still a lot of work for us but we think it’s our duty to get it done. Especially with the sad recent events!
